“Every day with Jesus, is sweeter than the day before
“Every day with Jesus, is sweeter than the day before
Every day with Jesus, I love Him more and more…”
These are the first two lines of a song that I sang when I was a little girl. I still sing it today and it has more truth and meaning to me now than then. Every day with Jesus is indeed sweeter than before.
What am I talking about?
If we were to conduct an interview with several unbelievers as well as some Christians and ask the very profound question: “What is the purpose of life?” there will be a plethora of long – winded answers, that sound philosophically good in and of themselves. They may sound something like any of these:
- To be the best lawyer/teacher/doctor/engineer etc.
- to be kind to one another,
- to save the planet and make it habitable for our children and their children,
- to be the best human being that I can be
- to be the top in my profession
- to make others happy
- to make the world a better place
- to prepare ourselves for transcendency into the next world
- to enjoy the best life….
purposefulness is living in and by Christ, because Christ is in us.
Now I know this will ruffle the field of psychology and philosophy because in these fields of study, “purpose of life” is seen as conditional, subjective, unclear, and has no definitive, single answers. It is similar to many other things that were once very well and clearly defined, such as gender. Academically, you could write a whole thesis on “What is life’s purpose?” However, this shows just how the things of God and the things of the world are completely opposite. It should seem absolutely clear, that honour should be given to the Creator of man as far as what was His purpose for His creation, and not give greater credence to the creation who wants to dictate its purpose away from the Creator through psychological and philosophical touting.
God’s purpose for man is clear and was always in Christ from the beginning. The following scripture tells us so perfectly –
9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.”
Here is another translation for you to see:
“9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began”. (KJV)
Clearly, the responses above, as sweet as they sound, have missed the essence of purpose as our Creator defined it. He has not changed and neither has our purpose. His masterful creation of man has his purpose in Christ.
Without Him there is no purpose.
Without Him the masterpiece we were created as, cannot truly manifest. We are talking about masterpiece creations of God.
It must all be about a life in Jesus Christ!
